Yacht- und Ruder-Club Attendorn e.V.

The Yacht- und Ruder-Club Attendorn (YRCA) was founded in 1965 and lies in Waldenburger Bay on the western shore of Biggesee, embedded in the wooded slopes of the Sauerland. The club grounds at Waldenburger Bucht 26 are quiet and harmoniously fitted into the landscape, with a direct view of the imposing dam wall of the Bigge reservoir. Anyone sailing here has one of North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest and most popular cruising areas on their doorstep: the water is clear, the area broad enough for long tacks and yet manageable for families and beginners.

The pontoon facility offers a number of water berths with electricity and lighting, plus numerous land berths for dinghies and Optimists. The club has its own crane and a slipway, so lifting in, hauling out and winter storage can be organised on site. Sanitary facilities with showers are provided, and the club restaurant with indoor area and a generous outdoor terrace invites guests to unwind after a day on the water. There is also a children’s playground for the youngest club members.

The YRCA sees itself as an active club with a regatta tradition, youth programme, rowing and sailing instruction and a strong internal club life. Visiting boats and day guests are welcome by arrangement but should clarify booking and a berth with the board in advance — this is a club harbour, not a commercial marina in the classic sense.
