1. Strictly necessary cookies (no consent required)

These are required for the site to function and cannot be disabled.

• nordok_auth_token — keeps you signed in. Persistent, 30 days, secure + sameSite.
• nordok_auth_user — caches your user record for the navigation. 30 days.
• nordok_locale — remembers your chosen language. 1 year.
• XSRF-TOKEN / nordok_session — CSRF protection on forms. Session.

2. Analytics (consent required)

We use a self-hosted Matomo instance at analytics.nordok.net to understand how the site is used. Matomo cookies are only set if you accept analytics. You can withdraw consent at any time.

• _pk_id, _pk_ses — Matomo visitor and session identifiers. 13 months / 30 minutes.

3. Payment cookies (consent required, only on premium signup)

Stripe sets cookies on the premium signup and checkout pages to detect fraud and remember your card. These are only loaded if you proceed to a Stripe-hosted checkout.

4. Retention

No cookie set by us has a lifetime longer than 13 months, in line with the ePrivacy Directive guidance.

5. How to opt out

• Use the cookie banner — analytics consent can be withdrawn at any time.
• Clear cookies in your browser settings (this also signs you out).
• Use a browser-level opt-out (e.g. Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control). We honour these signals where technically possible.

Some pages on NorDok show a single ad, marked with the word "Ad". If you click it, we send you on to the advertiser or the ad network. NorDok may earn a commission if you buy something afterwards. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not affect the order or the content of the harbour guide.

We set no cookies for the ads. Impressions are only counted towards a daily total — we do not record who saw an ad. If you click, we store the time, which ad it was, which language you were reading and which harbour page you came from, plus your IP address converted into a numeric code. The code cannot be turned back into your IP address and is used only to spot abuse.

Once you have been sent on, the advertiser's and the network's own cookies and privacy policies apply — not ours. The networks we use today are Adtraction and Partner-ads.
