Description
Tärnö is the largest island in the Karlshamn archipelago, reached in around half an hour from the mainland by your own boat. The guest harbour lies on the north-east side of the island, well sheltered in a bay opening towards the inner archipelago. The harbour makes an excellent base for a day or two in calm natural surroundings.
The island offers rocky outcrops, pine heaths and bathing cliffs, and from the viewpoint Drakaberget you can see most of the Blekinge coast. Sweden’s oldest wooden lighthouse is still in operation here, and the trails link the lighthouse, fishing hamlets and bathing coves around the island.
The service level is modest and varies by season – after disputes with the municipality, the on-island offering has shifted, so plan for self-catering and check the current situation before visiting. The nearest full-service harbour is the Karlshamn archipelago terminal with fuel, shop and restaurants.
