Motoryachtclub Dömitz

The Motor-Yachtclub Dömitz e.V. is based on the right bank of the Müritz-Elde waterway between kilometres 0.68 and 0.75 – exactly where the old Mecklenburg link runs out into the river Elbe. Geographically, this is one of the more interesting spots on the Elbe: it's where the inland waterway meets the open river, where the star-shaped Dömitz fortress stands, and from where you can either head upstream toward Hitzacker and Wittenberge or push on via the MEW toward Schwerin and Lake Müritz.

The club itself is small and member-run: around twelve to sixteen berths depending on boat size, with electricity and fresh water at the pontoon. There are sanitary facilities, a clubhouse and a barbecue area, and guest crews are welcomed throughout the season – Dömitz is a classic staging stop on the route between Hamburg and Berlin. The location is made even more useful by the immediate proximity of the modern WasserWanderZentrum Dömitz, with its fuel pump, larger bunker capacity and yard within easy reach if needed.

Anyone tying up in Dömitz should set aside a day for the town: the 16th-century fortress is one of the best-preserved northern German Renaissance complexes, with the old Elbe bridge, a small historic centre and the nearby biosphere-reserve floodplain forest as a bonus. For crews who prefer a quiet, traditional club harbour to a big commercial marina, MYC Dömitz is a fitting choice.
