Grimsøy Marina

Grimsøy Marina lies in Grimsøykilen on Grimsøy, in the approaches to Skjebergkilen on the eastern shore of the outer Oslofjord. The berths are well sheltered inside the inlet, and a bubble system keeps the basin ice-free through the winter, so a number of boats stay afloat year-round.

This is first of all a working marine centre. The fuel dock is open around the clock with card payment, selling both 98-octane bioethanol-free petrol and dyed diesel. Ashore there is a workshop for all types of boat and engine, a chandlery, a crane for lifting in and out, and indoor and outdoor winter storage for up to 700 boats. The site is staffed year-round and the harbour is guarded.

Berths run from narrow dinghy places to alongside berths taking boats of thirteen to twenty-three metres, and the pontoon installation was upgraded in 2022. The marina states that it has visitor berths, though they are in demand through the season and the number is not published.

Operations have changed hands a couple of times in recent years: the company behind the harbour was founded in 2003, while the workshop and shop are run today by Østfold Marineservice. Beyond the inlet lie the archipelagos off Sarpsborg, Fredrikstad, Halden and Hvaler, and on down the Swedish coast.
