NyHavn 2 Middelfart

A June morning, 1,000 metres of Little Belt between two bridges — and 53 berths in central Middelfart with a direct view of both. It is eight o'clock at Havnegade 4, the current has just turned, and the coffee mug stays put on the aft deck. That is the kind of morning NyHavn 2 Middelfart was built for.

The harbour opened on 19 May 2018 and is privately run by Janpi.P. Holding ApS — not municipal, not a club marina, but a small family operation right at the edge of the city centre. It became the country's first fully electronic self-service harbour: you pay by card or MobilePay on arrival, and the shower code arrives on the receipt. Every one of the 53 berths can be reserved online in advance — still a signature today.

Twenty berths are leased annually, roughly 33 are for visiting yachts. Maximum vessel length is 21 metres. A-harbour, year-round operation. Water, 230V power, showers, toilets and Wi-Fi are included in the harbour fee — no coin slots, no extra ticket for hot water. Green and red LED signs on the pontoons show where berths are free.

NyHavn 2 Middelfart deliberately has no fuel, crane or slipway. Bunkering happens at the neighbouring harbour ~1.5 km away. In exchange you tie up 50 metres from KulturØen — cinema, library, café, restaurant — and a two-minute walk from the town centre. Up to 20 camper vans may park per day, with 10-11 spots in the front row looking straight at the water.

The Little Belt is protected nature park and home to roughly 3,000 harbour porpoises — the densest population anywhere in the world. Sit in the cockpit on a quiet morning and you will often see them rolling through the current. From the aft deck you have the Old Little Belt Bridge (1935) and the New (1970) in a single frame. It is a view no other city marina in the area can match.
